Haydn2032

Giovanni Antonini

In the lead-up to the 300th anniversary of Joseph Haydn's birth in 2032, the Joseph Haydn Foundation in Basel is organising, producing and financing the performance and recording of all 107 of the composer's symphonies by Il Giardino Armonico and Basel Chamber Orchestra under the artistic direction of Giovanni Antonini, one of the most highly-respected specialists in baroque, early classical and classical music, with its project Haydn2032. Between the autumn of 2014 and 2032, all of Haydn's symphonies are to be performed and recorded in the course of nineteen concert seasons, with two projects per year. Basel, Zurich und Eisenstadt have already signed up to host the project. In Berlin, Radialsystem V – one of the most innovative and experimental venues in Germany – is to enter into a long-term partnership with the project. The French group 'outhere music' is the cooperation partner on the recording side. And to accompany the project, the Joseph Haydn Foundation will be publishing a lavish, limited edition collector's book, complete with text and photographs by contemporary artists. The renowned agency Magnum Photos will supply a team of photographers to accompany the project and contribute a series of images for each subject area.

Christoph Müller, Director of Müller & Pavlik artistic management GmbH, is the President of the Joseph Haydn Stiftung.
